Lori Caldwell-Carr Attending Advanced Collaborative Law Training
Lori Caldwell-Carr is attending the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Institute advanced training at Arizona State University on February 24th. The training is a three-day advanced event for Collaborative Law Practitioners. During this workshop training, Ms. Caldwell-Carr will explore, discuss and practice some of the most innovative methods and approaches to dispute resolution when dealing with high conflict family law matters. This workshop is led by nationally recognized speaker, Ken Cloke, JD, Ph.D. who has done conflict resolution work in over 20 countries.
2010 Family Law Legislative Changes
Governor Crist has signed House Bill 907 into law. Important changes:
Child Support Section –
Florida Statute 61.13 (1)(a) – Eliminates need for filing petition to terminate child support based upon child turning 18.
Florida Statute 61.30 (6)(a) – First 3 tiers will be eliminated from child support guidelines.
Florida Statute 61.30 (2) (b) – Imputation of Income – DOR cases – imputation of median wage for anyone who doesn’t show up for child support payment hearing, but can’t impute income to anyone that has NOT worked at all during the term of the marriage.
61.30 (11) (a) 10 and 61.30 (11)(b) 1-8 – Removes the cliff or the notch effect that presently occurs for parenting plans that allow timesharing of 40% or more with the minority time parent. The change is designed to allow child support to flow to where the child goes.
Alimony Support Bill -
Provides statutory definition for bridge the gap, rehabilitative, and permanent marriage.
Limits Bridge the gap to two years. Provides that it is not modifiable in amount or duration
Durational alimony – when permanent alimony is not appropriate. Short or moderate term marriage. Amount is modifiable based upon substantial change for amount but NOT term.
Lori Caldwell-Carr Appointed to Family Law Inn of Court Executive Council
Lori Caldwell-Carr was appointed to the Central Florida Family Law American Inn of Court Executive Council. This group is the leading professional organization in Central Florida promoting education, professionalism and ethic’s in Family Law.
Ms. Caldwell-Carr will be representing the group at the American Inns of Court Symposium on the Status of the Legal Profession in the 21st Century. The Symposium will be held at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. from March 31st through April 2, 2011 with attendees from across the United States and Great Britain including England, Scotland and Ireland. Ms. Caldwell-Carr is excited to attend a luncheon where the address will be given by retired justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Sandra Day O’Connor.
